French forward David Trezeguet will miss Juventus’s Serie A season opener against Fiorentina on Sunday due to a knee injury, the club said on Saturday.
Trezegol, as he is known to the Juve faithful, has a sprained knee and will be out until Wednesday.
The Frenchman’s absence adds to an already lengthy injury list for the trip to Florence as coach Claudio Ranieri is without midfielders Cristian Zanetti, Marco Marchionni and Momo Sissoko as well as defenders Jonathan Zebina and Giorgio Chiellini.
The match against Fiorentina is being billed as the first clash between championship challengers.
Both sides qualified for the lucrative Champions League group stage in midweek.
