(GSM) – David Trezeguet has returned to the Juventus squad for Thursday’s Europa League match against Ajax.
The French striker has recovered from an ankle injury that kept him sidelined since January 6.
Alberto Zaccheroni will miss Christian Poulsen and Vincenzo Iaquinta who are both recovering from long-term injuries.
Fabio Cannavaro has also stayed at home as a precaution after the sciatic nerve in his back became lightly inflamed.
Juventus expect the veteran defender to be back in the squad on Friday.
Nicola Legrottaglie will replace Cannavaro, just like he did in Sunday’s match against Genoa (3-2 ). The 33-year-old defender stressed the importance of Sunday’s victory on the club’s official website.
“We really needed it. It was important to find faith in ourselves again and now on with Ajax in search of the consistency which has gone missing up to now.
“With Zaccheroni we are working well and in a systematic manner with the objective of sorting out the season.”
Legrottaglie is aware of the importance of the Europa League for Juventus.
“It is enough to note the names of the teams particpating in order to understand that it is a prestigious competition.
“You ask me whether Ajax’s forward line is strong? Our is also.”
