Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud says the club have been offered the chance to sign Nigerian international forward John Utaka and will do everything in their power to retain the services of France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

Triaud said: “We were offered Utaka. I was surprised at his age, because he’s only 27. No decision has been taken. I know he wants to come back to France. I’ll pass on that information but it is the coach who will make the decision.”

On Gourcuff: “The coach wants to keep him, the directors too and the owners told me they’d help us reach our goal. The least we can do is be enthusiastic”.
