(GSM) – Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has revealed that he will not get in the way if Alou Diarra would insist in joining Ligue 1 defending champions Olympique Marseille.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Les Girondins for a while with the clubs having made contact.

However, OM have so far not agreed to shell out on the release fee of €7.75 million.

“He (OM president Jean-Claude Dassier) called me yesterday in the evening,” Triaud told L’Equipe. “We would prefer to keep Alou Diarra, the captain of our team, but there is an option for him to go and they all know it – the player and the club (Marseille).

“Me, I will respect the word that has been given, but if he insists on leaving, we will not get into a war with Alou Diarra. What is necessary is that Marseille must be a bit more professional because for now they say they are interested in a player, but they must decide quickly.”

Asked if he would compromise over the release clause, Triaud said: “Are you kidding or what? There is no reason. If he goes, we will have the cash to do something else. They know the conditions.”
