Turkish giants battle for Benatia

Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport has picked up on a rumour from Turkey claiming that an Istanbul Derby is on agenda for Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia.

The Morocco defender is being targeted by both Galatasaray and Besiktas, who are going head to head for the out-of-favour Juventus centre-back.

Turkish giants are keen to take on-loan Bayern Munich man on another loan spell with purchase option, whereas Besiktas are believed to have already made an official approach for the 30-year-old.

The Morocco international defender has thus far made 16 competitive appearances for Juventus but has struggled with injuries throughout the season. Bianconeri have invested €3 million to Bayern Munich and have an option to make his deal permanent for another €17 million.

It remains to be seen whether Bianconeri will activate the clause and buy the Moroccan out of his contract with Bayern Munich given the total cost involved.
