Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf is reporting that Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is the subject of interest from FC Twente.
The Tukkers have been struggling up front ever since Luuk de Jong was sold to Borussia M’gladbach, with Luc Castaignos failing to prove his worth in Enschede.
As a result, Twente officials are hoping to sign a proven goalscorer this summer, and have in turn made Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner their number one target.
Given that the Dane is no longer in first team plans of Arsene Wenger, the Tukkers would have no problems agreeing a transfer fee with the Premier League side, but the player’s €2 million yearly wage is well outside their price range.
Should Bendtner refuse to accept a pay cut to facilitate a move to Twente, the Eredivisie side will turn their interest to Brondby forward Simon Makienok.
The 22-year-old was in fine form last season, netting 15 times in 31 Danish Superliga matches.
