(TVL) – FC Twente remain in first place in the Dutch Eredivisie thanks to a 2-0 win over Feyenoord, who meanwhile drop to fifth place with AZ Alkmaar moving to fourth.
Twente felt the pressure of Ajax, who are only one point behind the Enschede side, but nevertheless delivered a good performance against Feyenoord.
The opening goal came from Blaise N’Kufo in the 40th minute and Miroslav Stock added another eight minutes after the break.
Ajax beat Heracles 4-0 to remain at one point with just one more game to go. Siem de Jong scored in the 20th and 37th minute and goals from Marko Pantelic in the 59th and 63rd left the opponents deflated.
PSV, who beat Groningen 3-1, are certain of finishing in third place as the top two are no longer in sight.
Tim Matavz put Groningen ahead on three minutes but Zakaria Labyad (2) and Balazs Dzsudzsak made sure that PSV would at least get the three points.
AZ joined the top four and are now on course for a spot in the UEFA Europa League, thanks to a 0-3 win at Willem II. Hector Moreno scored in the first half, Brett Holman and Mounir El Hamdaoui did so in the second.
ADO Den Haag played themselves to safety crushing already relegated RKC 4-0 with goals from Timothy Derijck, Kees Luyckx, Andres Oper and Danny Buijs.
Willem II are now certain of having to feature in the promotion/relegation play-offs, as is Sparta who lost 0-3 in a home match with Utrecht. Jacob Lensky, Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Erixon Danso scored in that match.
