Rangers striker Steven Naismith has been handed a two-match ban for swinging an elbow at Dunfermline defender Austin McCann.
Naismith was handed the ban after TV evidence showed the indiscretion which was missed by the referee during Saturday’s Scottish Premier League clash.
Rangers have accepted the penalty and a statement on their website read: “Steven has already had an apology accepted by Austin McCann and admits there was no deliberate intent to make contact with the player.”
After initially escaping punishment, Naismith went on to bag two goals in Rangers’ 4-0 win.
The two-match suspension rules the Scotland international out of upcoming league matches against Kilmarnock and Hibernian.
