Two-match Euro ban for Drogba

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been banned for two games by UEFA for being sent off while playing against Inter Milan in the Champions League last 16, return leg game at Stamford Bridge on March 16.

He will serve the suspension at the start of the next Champions League campaign as Chelsea were knocked out of this year’s competition by the Italian side.

Drogba received his marching orders against Inter in the final minutes of the game when he stamped on defender Thiago Motta after being incensed at the referee having turned down a penalty claim on his part.

The Ivory Coast striker already missed the first three Champions League games this season after being sent off for his aggressive behaviour toward the referee at the end of the semi-final tie against Barcelona.
