Tyrone Mears set for Everton trial

Former Bolton Wanderers defender Tyrone Mears is reportedly undergoing a trial at Goodison Park, The People has suggested.

The 31-year-old has been a free agent since he was released by the Trotters earlier this summer and it appears Everton boss Roberto Martinez is prepared to give him a chance to earn a contract at Merseyside.

With the Toffees also playing Europa League football this term, they lack some cover at the back and that is probably the reason why they are believed to have offered a trial to Tyrone Mears.

The experienced defender was once regarded a major talent, but a broken leg and serious knee injury seriously marred his playing career.

Mears only managed 28 league appearances for Bolton since joining from Burnley three years ago, but it appears he will be given another chance to prove his worth in English Premier League.

The right-back has represented Jamaica at international level, making his only appearance back in 2009.
