La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Udinese have reached an agreement to sign Uruguayan striker Rodrigo Aguirre from Liverpool Montevideo.
The Friulani have agreed a €4 million fee with the player’s employers, and are set to wrap up the deal taking the talented forward to Udine.
Aguirre has arrived in Italy for a medical, after which he is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
The likes of Monaco, Torino and Sporting Braga were also interested, but Udinese’s willingness to pay the amount in full proved enough to seal the deal.
Friulani had been alerted of Aguirre’s potential a while back and they were impressed with his performances this season.
The 19-year-old has come through the youth ranks at Liverpool Montevideo and went on to score 15 goals in 52 league outings for the club. Aguirre has so far represented Uruguay at the Under-17 and Under-20 level.
