NEC Nijmegen secured a spot in the UEFA Cup thanks to a 7-0 aggregate victory over NAC Breda. ADO Den Haag meanwhile, beat RKC in a deciding clash to earn a Eredivisie berth for next season.
NEC’s match at NAC was nothing but a formality as the first leg had already been won 6-0.
In Breda, Lens scored the only goal of the match. NAC finished third in the regular season but are left empty-handed when it is about European football.
ADO Den Haag join FC Volendam and De Graafschap in next season’s Eredivisie thanks to a 2-1 victory in the extra clash with RKC Waalwijk.
A third match was needed as the first two weren’t enough to decide which of the two teams would get promoted.
The decision in The Hague came late as Richard Knopper broke the deadlock after 74 minutes. Cornelisse scored the home side’s second from the penalty spot nine minutes later.
A late goal from De Ceulaer couldn’t change anything for RKC.
