With the European Championship qualifiers reaching the final stretch, top spot in Group D still remains up for grabs.

While Wales might still have their sights set on punching another major tournament ticket, it appears that Croatia and Turkey are battling it out in a two-horse race to be declared Group D winners.

Ahead of what looks set to be a defining fortnight of action from Group D, we have taken an in-depth look at what could unfold and some of the most intriguing EURO 24 betting tips that are available this month.

Who is leading the chase in Group D?

While Croatia might still be in a battle to find a route out of Group D this year, the Blazers mark their return with just their goal difference keeping them ahead of the chasing pack.

However, while Zlatko Dalic’s side might find Turkey firmly breathing down their neck, Croatia have only continued to gain a string of plaudits following on from their World Cup bronze medal finish out in Qatar over the winter.

Looking to lay down a quailing marker and finish off the job when they return to Group D action this week, the one-time Al-Hilal boss finds his high-flying squad priced at 4/11 with BetUS to eventually punch their ticket to Germany as Group D winners.

The Group D Players to Keep an Eye on

With what promises to be a stacked fortnight schedule from across Group D, we have taken a look at two stars that could still most of October’s headlines.

Andrej Kramaric – Croatia & Hoffenheim

If Croatia are to widen their buffer at the top of the Group D table over the next fortnight, there is no doubt that the Blazers will be calling on the red-hot Andrej Kramaric to spearhead their qualifying charge.

One of Dalic’s standout performers during Croatia’s European Championship qualifying adventure this year, the 32-year-old has enjoyed a hugely impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Along with finding the net in back-to-back Group D appearances against Armenia and Latvia last month, Kramaric has got in the scoresheet in each of his previous five straight appearances for club and country.

Bertug Yildirim – Turkey & Rennes

If Turkey are to spring a real upset over the next fortnight and find a route out to the top of the Group D table, 21-year-old Bertug Yildirim will be hoping that he is handed another chance to shine leading Vincenzo Montella’s attack.

Opening his account for French outfit Rennes last month after bagging a Europa League strike against Maccabi Haifa, the former Hataysport striker has also caught the eye while on international duties over the past few months.

Coming off the bench and bagging a late equaliser as Turkey snatched a sluggish 1-1 draw at home against Armenia on September 8th, Yildrim has now notched back-to-back goals for the Crescent Stars.

Group D Match of the Week & Available Odds

With Croatia and Turkey only separated at the top of the Group D table by their goal difference, it appears that their showdown on Thursday night could prove to be a defining encounter.

Watching the Blazers come roaring back following on from their downbeat start to this year’s EURO 24 qualifying campaign, the World Cup bronze medalists will be excited by their most recent showdown against their Group D rivals.

Putting in an eye-catching performance as they landed a deserved 2-0 victory in Bursa back on March 28th, Croatia will be desperate to produce a repeat display on Thursday.

Likewise, gaining a fearsome reputation for their remarkable success on home soil, Dalic’s side have not suffered a single European Championship qualifying defeat in front of their own supporters from any of their 37 showdowns – a run that stems all the way back to November 1994.

Although Croatia might still find themselves in a scrap to clinch top spot in Group D this year, the World Cup bronze medalist will be desperate to make a major statement of intent on Thursday night.

Still pencilled in at 4/11 with BetUS to hold off a late charge from the likes of Turkey and a struggling Wales, Croatia will be excited to make a return to home soil in midweek.

Remarkably unbeaten in any of their 37 straight European Championship appearances in front of their own supporters, Dalic’s high-flying squad will also be boosted by that 2-0 victory that they claimed in Bursa seven months ago.
