Andriy Voronin says Ukraine have to be on top of their game if they are to contain Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their clash against Sweden.
The Dynamo Moscow attacker praised the AC Milan striker for his ability to decide matches on his own, and warned his team-mates they cannot afford to give him any space.
“Zlatan is fantastic. He’s one of those footballers who can turn a game on their own,” Voronin told the FIFA website.
“He’s a top player and he’s proved that at Barcelona and AC Milan.
“He’s top-class and without a doubt, he’ll be a constant threat throughout the game. We’ll have to be at our best to stop him.”
Voronin admitted Ukraine were feeling the weight of expectation of playing on home soil.
“I’m a bit nervous because there’s a lot of pressure. We’re playing at home and everyone’s going to be behind us, cheering for us to get the win,” the former Liverpool man said.
“It’s a great honour but also an enormous responsibility. Yes, of course I’m nervous but I’m also just as keen to get out on the pitch and repay our fans’ support.”
