Umtiti set for new contract talks with Barcelona

El Mundo Deportivo has learned that French defender Samuel Umtiti is happy to negotiate a new contract at Camp Nou.

The highly rated stopper has been linked with a summer move away from Barcelona as he reportedly wants a higher salary that would reflect his status in the squad.

And while the initial round of talks did not go according to plan, the two sides are set to meet in the coming days to try and work out their differences.

Even though they are happy to hand Umtiti a substantial pay rise, the Catalans also want to increase his buy-out clause that currently stands at mere €60 million.

The 24-year old has fared pretty well since joining from Lyon in a €25 million deal, going on to feature in 47 La Liga fixtures.
