Speaking in a recent press conference, Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui appeared to have dropped a hint about Goncalo Guedes potentially leaving the club this month.
Wolves recorded an important victory over West Ham at the Molineux on Saturday putting three points on their account which saw them rise above the relegation zone, courtesy of a solitary strike from Daniel Podence. Podence started the match upfront beside Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan, while Guedes was left out of the squad completely.
Lopetegui said the absence of the Portuguese winger was purely tactical and appeared to insist Guedes was still a Wolves player, but facing a concrete question about the player’s future, the manager simply said anything could happen in the market. The 26-year-old was on target when Wolves drew 2-2 against Liverpool in the FA Cup last Saturday, but it remains to be seen if he’s named to play in the rematch on Tuesday.
Guedes joined Wolves from Valencia only last summer and has scored two goals in 18 matches in all competitions so far, along with one assist.
