Under 2.5 goals at Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough 8/11 for Friday’s Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 8/11 @ Bet 365

In what could prove to be a contest low on quality, Birmingham will welcome Middlesbrough to St. Andrew’s on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Birmingham may have caught the eye either side of the international break, the Blues find themselves in the midst of a real struggle. Suffering a 1-0 loss away at Wigan in midweek, Head Coach Pep Clotet has seen his side lose their last three matches on the spin, a run that has also seen them suffer defeats against Preston and fellow strugglers Derby. Now appearing to be someway off mounting any kind of play-off charge, fans around St. Andrew’s will also be calling to make some improvements in the final third. Failing to find the net against Preston in their last match on home soil, they have also failed to record a strike in two of their previous three defeats.

As for the visitors, while Middlesbrough may have managed to snatch a point off of play-off hopefuls Preston in midweek, Jonathan Woodgate’s side also appears some way off mounting a top-six charge. Winning just two of their opening 10 Championship matchups since the former defender was appointed Head Coach, the Reds have also picked up just a single victory since the 20th of August. Despite their recent issues, Woodgate will take some solace from knowing that his side have won their last four meetings against Friday’s hosts, including back-to-back victories at St. Andrew’s.
