With only one spot left in France’s top-tier for next season, Dijon will travel to Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Thursday night.
Starting with the hosts, although Lens may have just pinched the final Ligue 2 play-off spot on the final weekend of fixtures, they did manage to shock many by coming past both Paris and Troyes to book their place in the final. While Philippe Montanier’s men are enjoying a five-match winning run and have arguably saved their best performances for the back end of the campaign, fans around the Stade Bollaert-Delelis might have some minor concerns over Lens’ form in the final third. Thursday’s hosts have scored more than just a single goal in one of their previous five appearances on home soil.
As for the visitors, although Dijon may have managed to pick up a 2-1 win over Toulouse last weekend, it was not enough to secure their Ligue 1 status for another season. Eventually finishing two points adrift of top-tier safety, a huge part of Dijon’s major issue at the back end of the season has been their woeful form on the road. Antoine Kombouaré’s men have remarkably lost seven of their last eight matches away from the Stade Gaston-Gérard, a run that stems back to a Coupe de France victory back on February 5th. Even more worrying, Thursday’s visitors have scored just one away goal in over 750 minutes of action.
