With the promotion chase really starting to heat up in the Bundesliga 3, title-chasers Unterhaching will host a struggling Ingolstadt from behind closed doors on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, marking the Bundesliga 3’s return to action on Saturday with a routine 2-0 win against relegation scrappers Sonnenhof, Unterhaching know that just a single point in midweek will see them climb back to the top of the table. Simply trying to find a run of results on their title charge after entering the enforced break with back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Bayern Munich II and a shock defeat against Chemnitzer, Head Coach Claus Schromm will undoubtedly be calling on his side to make some much-needed alterations on home soil. Including that defeat against Bayern Munich’s second string, Unterhaching have managed to land just a sole victory at the Alpenbauer Sportpark since the 21st of September, a nine-match run.

As for the visitors, while a stellar run of form in the opening half of the season may have seen Ingolstadt branded as a clear contender in the title race, the Reds have come crashing back down to earth in dramatic fashion. Carrying on from where they left off in March, Tomas Oral’s men were hit with a 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich II last weekend and have managed to snatch just a single point out of a possible 18 over their last six Bundesliga 3 outings. Continuing to slide down the table and the mood in their camp at a season-low, Ingolstadt are also yet to record a single win on the road since opening 2020. With each of the last three meetings between the two sides seeing under 2.5 strikes by the final whistle, we’re backing a similar outcome at the Alpenbauer Sportpark in midweek.
