Under 2.5 goals at West Brom vs Nottingham Forest 10/11 for Friday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

In a contest that could see chances come at a real premium on Friday night, West Brom will welcome Nottingham Forest to the Hawthorns.

Starting with the hosts, while many might have tipped West Brom as a leading pick to book an immediate Premier League return, the Baggies are in the midst of a recent struggle. Putting in another toothless display earlier in the week, Valérien Ismaël’s men eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Blackpool. Now appearing like they’re in an uphill battle to clinch a top-two finish this season, the former Barnsley boss could have some pressure growing on his shoulders. Marking their return from November’s international break with a shock 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield on the road, West Brom have now won just one of their last five Championship contests. Likewise, it should also be noted that Friday’s hosts have managed to bag themselves just a pair of goals from any of their last five outings.

As for the visitors, while Nottingham Forest might have enjoyed an immediate boost when they brought Steve Cooper to the City Ground back in September, they do appear to have lost some of that momentum. Putting in their own toothless display on Tuesday night as they had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Luton on home soil, the former Swansea boss has seen his side settle for a point in four of their last five Championship outings. Almost finding themselves sat in second-tier limbo as we inch closer to the New Year, Forest fans have also seen their side struggle to find much stability in the final third. Aside from a 3-0 win against Preston last month, the Reds have failed to score more than a single goal in any of their other five Championship contests. In a battle that could see chances come at a premium, we’re backing under 2.5 goals.
