Despite a missed penalty in the first half, England went on to beat their Spanish counterparts 2-0 at the UEFA Under-21 Championships in Sweden.

The English had a great chance to go ahead on 32 minutes, as they were handed a penalty for a Javi Garcia foul on James Milner. The victim himself took the penalty but had his effort parried by keeper Sergio Asenjo.

But England did finally break the deadlock on 67 minutes, when Fraizer Campbell fired a low shot past Asenjo for a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Milner made up for his missed penalty by rounding off a counter-attack for 2-0.

With six points from their first two games, England are now certain of a spot in the semi finals. Germany are on course as well, with Spain trailing by three points. Finland are out of contention.
