Speaking to the press ahead of the FA Cup quarterfinals match away to Norwich City, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed uncertainty over the amount of money that should be at his disposal for incoming transfers this summer.
As ahead of practically every transfer window, the Red Devils are being linked with expensive signings left, right and centre. The likes of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz, and particularly Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly are among the names consistently spoken about in that respect.
The Norwegian believes the club to be financially strong, but even though the extent of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic remains unclear to him, he expects United to be hit more than others.
While some clubs have invested in their teams already and some haven’t, Solskjaer says it’s now time for United to take a ‘big look’ at themselves to assess the extent of damage, before any transfer plans can be made.
