Manchester United are confident they will be able to beat Chelsea in the race for the signature of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, according to the Mirror.
The winger moved straight from Manchester City’s U-18 side to the first team at Dortmund in the summer of 2017, and since then he has exploded onto the big stage as one of the most talented youngsters in the game. This season alone, he has had 32 goal involvements (15 goals, 17 assists) in 29 games in all competitions. His pace and dazzling skill have already attracted the interests of top clubs across Europe, but United and Chelsea have been named as the most serious contenders to bring him back to England.
Chelsea’s interest in the 19-year-old comes as a result of the possibility of both Pedro and Willian leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, which would significantly reduce the options at Frank Lampard’s disposal when the wide attacking positions are concerned unless a high-quality signing is made.
But United feel they can convince Sancho to move to Old Trafford instead, though they face the prospect of paying £120 million for his services.
