Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo understands that Manchester United have made Argentine midfielder Angel di Maria their number one target.
The Red Devils have long ago expressed desire to sign the Real Madrid star, but they are finally set to make the interest concrete.
Manchester United plan to take advantage of the fact the Argentine has seen his first team chances limited following the arrival of Gareth Bale, although they still face a tough task in an attempt to prize the player away from Santiago Bernabeu.
Di Maria is held in high regard by new boss Carlo Ancelotti and he is set to return to the starting line-up now that Sami Khedira has picked up a season-ending injury.
And while the Red Devils are pondering a €21 million bid for the winger’s services, Di Maria’s release clause currently stands at €50 million.
Despite showing some improvement on a very disappointing start to the season, United can still be backed at 9/2 to defend the Premier League trophy.
