United flop on Benfica radar
Benfica are considering a January move for CSKA Moscow midfielder Zoran Tosic, according to Izvestia.
The Eagles have compiled a list of possible replacements for Nicolas Gaitan, who looks set to leave the club in the winter transfer window.
Russian newspaper Izvestia has learned that CSKA Moscow winger Zoran Tosic is the number one name on the hit-list.
The Serbian footballer can successfully play on either wing and he has largely impressed playing for the Russian giants.
Nevertheless, CSKA Moscow chiefs are prepared to consider any serious proposal for his services, having signed Steven Zuber from Grasshoppers this summer.
Zoran Tosic, 26, has spent some time at Manchester United, having joined from Partizan Belgrade, but left the club after making just two substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Following a very successful loan spell at Koln, he signed for CSKA Moscow, where he went on to score 14 goals in 80 league matches.
Totti agrees new Roma deal
Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Roma captain Francesco Totti is set to sign a new deal at Stadio Olimpico.
The club officials have been in talks with the player’s representatives over what will be the final contract of his career, and they seem to have finally reached an agreement.
As a result, Totti is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year deal that will see him earn €4.8 million this season, and another €6 million over the course of next two years.
The deal will be officially signed next week, when president James Pallotta returns to Rome, as the chairman is determined to be present for such a great occasion.
Francesco Totti resisted the temptation to leave Roma despite interest from top European clubs in the past, proving his loyalty on numerous occasions.
The 36-year-old has made a total of 537 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi, scoring 227 goals in the process.
European giants battle for Argentine starlet
A number of top European clubs are showing interest in Estudiantes goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, reports Catalan daily AS.
The 21-year-old has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last couple of years and his impressive displays did not go unnoticed.
According to AS, Barcelona, Manchester City, Porto and Benfica are all keeping close tabs on the talented shot-stopper.
And while the player has only recently established himself as a first team regular at Estudiantes, he is likely to be tempted by an opportunity to move to one of Europe’s top leagues.
Estudiantes chiefs are keen to hold on to the highly rated keeper at least for another season, but it is believed they would not be able to resist a big money offer.
Geronimo Rulli, who came through the youth ranks at the club, has so far made 18 league appearances for the Argentine giants.
