Manchester United announced on Wednesday that ticket prices at Old Trafford will be frozen next season.
United’s owners, the Glazer family, have been criticised for the size of ticket price rises since their takeover in 2005 and fans reacted angrily when it was claimed further increases were on the cards for next season.
There has also been a call from the Red Knights consortium, who are trying to mount a takeover bid for United, to boycott season tickets, with the promise that supporters taking direct action would get their tickets back should the group be successful in their plans.
But United have moved to calm the situation by revealing prices will be kept on this season’s level for the 2010-11 campaign.
The move means admission on matchdays to watch Sir Alex Ferguson’s team will continue to cost between 27 (30 euros) and 49 pounds (54 euros), with season tickets ranging from 513 pounds (572 euros) to 931 pounds (1,038 euros).
