Manchester United have tabled an improved contract offer for David De Gea, according to BBC.
The club have been in talks with the goalkeeper over a new deal for a while now with his current one set to expire next summer, but there has been no breakthrough in negotiations yet. The Spaniard, who played for Atletico Madrid before arriving to Old Trafford back in 2011, was on the verge of returning to the Spanish capital four years later with Real very keen on bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu. It was, however, Thibaut Courtois who left Chelsea to join Real last summer.
It is believed that the new offer, if accepted, would make De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. He does not wish to leave, but his representatives feel he has been a crucial part of the team in the last several years, and they want his wages to reflect his status at the club.
