Manchester United are preparing a bid for Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, according to German outlet Bild.
Real have a long-standing interest in United’s Paul Pogba. Head coach Zinedine Zidane is adamant about bringing his compatriot to the Santiago Bernabeu, and by all accounts, he isn’t interested in any other alternative. The club were linked with Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur and Donny van de Beek of Ajax, but Zidane’s message is clear: it has to be Pogba.
Having already spent over €300 million on incoming transfers this summer, Real were unable to reach an agreement with United after Pogba dropped several hints of a wish to play for the 13-time European champions. However, a few days ago reports claiming Real would be willing to include Kroos in the deal broke. Now it seems United are indeed interested in the Germany international.
Apparently, the Red Devils are setting €75 million aside, with the purpose of making a bid for the 29-year-old. If so, it remains to be seen whether Pogba will come into the deal somewhere.
