United recall James from Carlisle

Manchester United have recalled defender Reece James from his loan spell with Carlisle United, according to the Daily Star.

The 19 year old moved to the League One side last month, and made his debut in the 5-1 defeat to league leaders Leyton Orient.

He then sustained a thigh injury in the League Cup first round tie against Blackburn Rovers four days later, which ultimately led to the clubs decision to end the players stay at Brunton Park.

James is set to appear for United, so his two appearances for Carlisle are all he has managed so far.

The Premier League champions have a number of highly rated youngsters on loan outside of the top flight, a number of whom excelled at the weekend.

Doncaster Rovers’ Fedrico Macheda and Jesse Lingard, who is at Birmingham City, scored two and four times respectively on their debuts, while Nick Powell hit a stoppage time goal for Wigan Athletic in their win over Ipswich Town.
