United and Spurs looking at Paletta

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle for the services of former Liverpool defender Gabriel Paletta, according to the Daily Star.

United are keen to bring in a replacement for Nemanja Vidic, who is set to join Inter Milan, while Spurs could also be on the verge of losing one of their key defenders, with Jan Vertonghen attracting interest from across Europe.

Inter and Roma are have also been linked with Paletta, who is currently plying his trade in Serie A with Parma though he has made just seven league appearances so far his season.

Roberto Donadoni’s side are expected to command a high price for the 28 year old, with his contract not due to expire until 2017.
