Manchester United have decided to step up their interest in James Maddison of Leicester City, according to Mirror, but they may be forced to wait for the summer of 2020 before they can put their plans into operation.
United’s season so far can hardly be described as a successful one, with the Red Devils winning only two of the opening six games in the Premier League. To counter this, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on boosting his attacking options having not added to his ranks this summer to make up for the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
United tried to bring in Paulo Dybala of Juventus and Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur, but failed on both accounts.
Solskjaer would like to get Maddison in as soon as possible, but it seems the Foxes would be unwilling to consider parting ways with their prized asset halfway through the season. Apart from United, the attacking midfielder has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs.
