United take title race down to the wire

Manchester United ensured the Premier League title race will go down to the wire by beating Sunderland 1-0 just hours after leaders Chelsea defeated Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

United knew a loss at the Stadium of Light would have handed Chelsea the title, but Nani’s goal means the champions are just one point behind Carlo Ancelotti’s side heading into the final round of fixtures next Sunday.

Chelsea can win the title if they beat Wigan at home, but United will retain the crown if the Blues drop points and Sir Alex Ferguson’s team beat Stoke at Old Trafford.
