United to enter Havertz race

Manchester United are preparing to enter the fray to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, according to the Sunday Express.

The 20-year-old scored 20 goals from his position as an attacking midfielder last season, earning place in Joachim Low’s senior Germany side and attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool. It is against these sides that United are getting ready to compete for his signature.

Havertz is certainly among the most sought-after young talents not only in Germany but in all of Europe, and he won’t be cheap for any potential suitor. Apparently, United have been told not to waste their time with any bids under £90 million, but manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer is very keen on having the youngster in his ranks as he seeks for a way to get his team back to the paths of former glory.

Leverkusen aren’t opposed to cashing in on Havertz while his price is high. His contract runs for three more years, but his market value will be on a downward road as its end approaches.
