Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to be thinking ahead. The Evening Standard claims that the Norwegian’s target for the next summer is definitely Jadon Sancho, currently a Borussia Dortmund winger.
Although Solskjaer has sanctioned the departure of two of his forwards – Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, both off to Inter Milan – no immediate replacements have been arranged, so it remains to be seen how the 46-year-old manager will deal with the situation on the pitch. According to the report, Solskjaer does not want “a quick fix” in the form of free agent Fernando Llorente, who Italian media claimed was offered a two-year loan-deal by United – a rumour which the British outlets quickly refuted.
Instead, the United boss, who is having his first full season at Old Trafford, is ready for a longer wait. Admitting that securing top players in the January transfer window will be difficult, he will make his move on Sancho next summer even though Borussia have said the Englishman is not for sale. The 19-year-old winger, who has scored a total of 17 goals, having just started his third season with the Borussia first and reserve teams, renewed his contract with the club in August 2019.
