Manchester United are preparing a new player-plus cash deal to again attempt to secure the services of Everton’s Leighton Baines in January, the Express understands.
The Premier League champions are hopeful that a package including Wilfried Zaha and £7m will be enough to persuade the Toffee’s to part company with their star man, who United failed to land in the summer.
Zaha was former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing before he retired at the end of last season, laying out £15m for the highly rated winger, though he is yet to feature in the Premier League under new boss David Moyes.
He made only his second appearance for the club in the 4-0 win over Norwich City in the League Cup last week, having also played in the Community Shield at Wembley in August.
A number of other top flight clubs are considering a loan move for the former Crystal Palace man, including Stoke City, Sunderland and Southampton.
