Manchester United have decided to pull the plug on their efforts to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus as they deem £50million to be too much for his services. That’s according to Mirror who claim the Premier League runners-up have turned their attention to Valencia left back Jose Luis Gaya instead.
The 23-year-old Gaya has, however, recently signed a new contract with the Spanish club where he has spent the whole of his career so far. That could present a potential problem in United’s pursuit as it gives Valencia a stronger position for potential negotiations and may significantly raise the figure the player is currently valued at – around £30million.
Apart from Gaya, manager Jose Mourinho is interested in 21-year-old Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, as French oultet Le10Sport claim. Ndombele played a season at Amiens and helped them earn promotion to Ligue 1 before moving to Lyon on loan last summer. The deal has, however, only just been made permanent and as is the case with Gaya, United probably won’t find it easy to prize him away.
