Daily Mirror understands that Manchester United are closely following Athletic Bilbao star Oscar de Marcos.
De Marcos, 23, caught the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson during United’s Europa League clashes with los Leones last season and his progress has been monitored ever since.
Daily Mirror now reports that Fergie sent his brother Martin and one of United’s top scouts to watch the player as the Basque side faced Barcelona at Camp Nou on Saturday.
This could very well mean that Sir Alex Ferguson is pondering a summer move for the highly rated midfielder.
De Marcos, who arrived to San Mames from Alaves back in 2009, is a very versatile player who can successfully operate as a winger or left-back.
The former Spain Under-21 international is well known for his attacking runs and has already scored 3 goals in 13 La Liga appearances this season.
De Marcos scored four Europa League goals last term, as los Leones made it to the competition final.
