Bundesliga side Freiburg are interested in signing Brazilian defender Fabio da Silva from Manchester United, according to Bild.
The 23-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and it is perfectly clear he won’t be offered a contract extension.
And Bild has now suggested that Freiburg are in talks with the player’s representatives as they plan to add the Brazilian to their ranks as early as January.
It is believed that Fabio would be available for mere €1 million, and Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach remains coy on the transfer talk.
“I don’t want to say anything so as not to make other clubs attentive…” Hartenbach was quoted as saying in Bild.
Fabio da Silva arrived at Manchester United from Fluminense back in 2008 together with his twin brother Rafael, but he has largely struggled to prove his worth at Old Trafford.
The full-back has only managed 23 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 1 goal in the process.
Having just completed the capture of Juan Mata from Chelsea, Manchester United look a good bet at 9/4 to achieve a top 4 finish.
