(GSM) – Group 8 of the 2010 Copa Libertadores seems to be heading for an early decision after Universidad Catolica were held to a 1-1 draw by Caracas on Wednesday.

Catolica are third in this group and with just two points from their first three games, the Chileans desperately needed a win if they wanted to keep playing a part in this tournament.

Caracas were even worse off, having collected just one point so far.

At Santiago’s San Carlos de Apoquindo, the Venezuelan visitors drew first blood through Jaime Bustamante in the 50th minute but the hosts limited the damage as Juan Morales equalised with eight minutes to go.

Universidad de Chile and Flamengo occupy the first two spots in this group, and both have a game in hand in comparison with their two rivals. Universidad have four points more than their compatriots of Universidad Catolica, and second-placed Flamengo are three points ahead.

Flamengo and Universidad de Chile face each other in Brazil on April 7.
