(GSM) – A late equalizer by Edson Puch earned Universidad de Chile a 2-2 draw in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday against Chilean rivals Universidad Católica.

Juan Manuel Olivera initially put Universidad de Chile into an early lead on 19 minutes, but Matías Rubio struck an equalizer two minutes later to bring Católica level in Coquimbo.

The sides jostled back and forth for position in the match for a good portion, until the 70th minute when Católica’s Francisco Silva put the home side in front 2-1.

It looked certain, despite pressure from the visitors, that Católica would snatch a full three points, but Puch broke their hearts two minutes into stoppage time with the goal to split the points.

Universidad de Chile now sit top of Group 8 on four points while Católica have just one from their two games.

The other two sides in the group – Caracas FC and Flamengo – meet on Wednesday in Venezuela.
