(GSM) – Universidad de Chile went to the top of Copa Libertadores Group 8 on Wednesday night after a 2-1 victory over Brazilian side Flamengo.

The Brazilians entered the match in Santiago two points ahead of Universidad in the table, but the home side snatched the momentum in the match on 42 minutes when Eduardo Vargas’ shot found his way past Bruno.

Flamengo, however, pulled level on 51 minutes when Rodrigo Alvim bagged his second in as many games in the competition.

It was not to be, however, for the visitors as Universidad took the lead again in the 55th minute when Felipe Seymour notched his first goal for the club since October.

In the group’s other game on the evening, Universidad Católica of Chile held Caracas FC to a 0-0 draw in Venezuela.

Through three games, Universidad de Chile (seven points) and Flamengo (six) lead the way. Católica (two points) and Caracas (one point) will have a lot of ground to make up.
