(GSM) – Universidad de Chile took the edge in their Copa Libertadores quarter-final on Wednesday with a 3-2 away victory over Flamengo in the first leg.
Mauricio Victorino fired the Chileans in front after just four minutes to stun the crowd in Rio de Janeiro, and it got worse 20 minutes later when Rafael Olarra doubled the lead to 2-0.
Adriano, who was omitted from the Brazilian World Cup squad, pulled a goal back for Flamengo in the 39th minute, and the Brazilians got a man advantage just before the break when Universidad’s Manuel Iturra picked up a second booking.
Despite the disadvantage, the visitors went 3-1 ahead in the 47th minute as Álvaro Fernández tucked a shot home beyond goalkeeper Bruno.
Juan pegged back for Flamengo with two minutes to play, ensuring a thrilling return leg.
