(GSM) – Goals in the second half from Carlos Orejuela and Rodolfo Espinoza gave Peruvian side Universitario a winning start in Copa Libertadores Group 4 in a 2-1 win over Bolivia’s Blooming on Thursday.

After a scoreless first half, Univeristario came out all guns blazing. That resulted in the opening goal on 53 minutes when Orejuela struck from inside the area after a lapse by the Blooming defense allowed him through on goal.

The match was essentially out of reach in the 75th minute when Mexican striker Espinoza hit a powerful drive from distance that Blooming goalkeeper Andrés Jemio could only deflect into his own net.

Blooming, though, set up a tense finish with a goal in the 88th minute as Jesús Gómez hit a cracker from outside the area that eluded Raúl Fernández in the visiting goal.

The Bolivians, though, could not get any close, and the Peruvians left La Paz with a valuable three points to start their campaign.
