According to a recent report from Kicker, Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is not planning on extending his current contract with the German club which is set to expire in the summer of 2021. Both Arsenal and AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the youngster who, at this moment in time, is believed to be available for a fee of around €60 million due to a clause in his contract that was recently activated. Upamecano seemed destined to leave during the recent summer transfer window, but it didn’t quite come to fruition – but now, he’s going all in on making this move a reality.
Where he ends up is a different matter altogether, but given the financial losses that AC Milan have made over the last twelve months, you’d have to imagine that Arsenal would be the favourites.
The Gunners have an okay defensive structure right now, but they certainly wouldn’t say no to bringing Upamecano on board.
