Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani and Mauricio Victorino have been ruled out of the Copa America semi-final with Peru due to injury.

Napoli striker Cavani has been out of action since suffering a knee strain in a group-stage clash against Chile, while Cruzeiro defender Victorino left the field after just 19 minutes of Saturday’s quarter-final triumph against arch-rivals Argentina.

The pair joins the suspended Diego Perez on the unavailable list for coach Oscar Tabarez, who is expected to bring in young centre-back Sebastian Coates for Victorino, while Walter Gargano could feature in the midfield.

Uruguay are pursuing a record 15th Copa America title and will make their first final at the tournament since 1999 if they overcome Peru in La Plata on Tuesday.
