Uruguayan international Diego Godin completed his move from Villarreal to Atletico Madrid, the buying club announced on its website on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old central defender is due in Madrid on Thursday to go through a medical and sign a five year contract.
According to the Spanish daily AS, the two clubs have agreed a transfer fee of between eight and 10 million euros.
Godin joined Villarreal three years ago and quickly became a key member of the side. He has won 41 caps for Uruguay and was a member of the team that reached the semi-finals of this year’s World Cup in South Africa.
