The United States kept their automatic qualification hopes alive on Saturday night as they came from a goal down to defeat El Salvador 2-1.

Christian Castillo stunned the USA when he headed El Salvador in front after just 32 minutes after he caught Tim Howard slightly out of position in the goal.

But the USA quickly turned it in to overdrive, Clint Dempsey heading home the equalizer after Landon Donovan swung in a free kick from the right.

And the Americans netted the winner in first-half stoppage time when Jozy Altidore rose to head home after Donovan crossed in again, this time from the left.
