Bundesliga outfit Schalke have announced on their official website that talented midfielder Weston McKennie has extended his contract with the club.
The 19-year-old was rewarded for some promising showings in the Bundesliga, signing a new deal until June 2022.
McKennie joined the Miners from FC Dallas Academy in the summer of 2016, and he was added to the club’s Under-19 squad.
The central midfielder managed 4 goals in 21 league appearances for Schalke Under-19 and was eventually handed his Bundesliga debut in May 2017.
McKennie has since further improved his status in the squad, making 4 Bundesliga outings this season, and it is only a matter of time before he is handed his USMNT debut.
