USA’s Eric Lichaj has signed a new three-year deal with Premiership side Aston Villa.
The 21-year-old is yet to make his first appearance in Villa shirt but loan spells at Leyton Orient and Lincoln, as well as good performances in pre-season saw him persuade Villa officials to offer him a new deal.
“I am delighted. I now have a better opportunity to get into the first team,” Lichaj told club’s official website.
The player who represented United States at youth levels believes good performances for Villa will earn him a call-up to the senior national team.
“Hopefully when I start playing here I can get into the USA team. That would be nice,” Lichaj said.
Lichaj made a move to Aston Villa from the University of North Caroline after he impressed the club scouts while playing for the U.S. Under-17 side.
