Utrecht manager Ton du Chatinier has told his players to enjoy their final Europa League match against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Eredivisie club are unable to progress past the group stages even with a win at Anfield, and du Chatinier said his side should honour their fans with a positive performance.
“We want to play a good game because a lot of supporters have come from Holland,” du Chatinier said.
“There are between 3,500-4,000 people because when we qualified for the Europa League and they saw we drew Liverpool they wanted to come over to England.”
“For us it is a big game against big names in a very famous stadium.”
“We have a young team and for the players it is nice to play over here against some very big names.”
Prolific Utrecht striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel said he feels privileged to have rose through the football ranks so far as to be playing against Liverpool at European level at just 21 years of age.
“There is less at stake for us but we are still looking forward to the game,” van Wolfswinkel said.
“Two and a half years ago I was playing at a lot lower level so to be here now is a great opportunity.”
